Case Study

Adelaide Brighton Cement Ship Loader Upgrade

As a part of a $40 million upgrade program Adelaide Brighton Cement at Birkenhead on the Port River required the retrofitting of a new enclosed Shiploader.

The new Shiploader, chosen for its environmental credentials, replaced the existing unit which has been in use for 35 years.

The project was divided into 2 phases:
Phase 1 being detailed pre-works prior to plant shutdown; and
Phase 2 being a strict, inflexible 28 day plant shutdown window for removing the old boom and installing / commissioning the new boom.

Scope

The retrofit included project feasibility, detailed design, construction and installation.
