Maritime Constructions was awarded an Engineering Excellence Award in 2012 from the Institute of Engineers (WA) for the Design and Construction of the Anthon Landing Jetty in Wyndham. This prestigious engineering award was given in recognition of the engineering and logistical challenges that Maritime Constructions overcame to deliver a remote community jetty.
The project consisted of the design and construction of a 108m long Jetty, with a 45m long trussed Gangway to a 36m long Berthing Pontoon, providing both a recreational jetty as well as a multi-user berthing facility in the Kimberley region. Maritime and structural engineering disciplines were utilised to overcome numerous challenges such as significant currents, flood debris loading and a 9m tidal range! The berthing facility provides an all tide access to deep water in the Cambridge Gulf for tourist vessels, the local Sea Rescue Station and marine service operators transporting supplies to remote communities in the western region of the gulf.
A collaborative effort between the community and Maritime Constructions delivered a marine facility that meets the diverse economic, social and lifestyle needs of the Wyndham community. This was a true community project with regular community consultation meetings during the design phase and the involvement of students from the Wyndham High School monitoring progress of the works.
